Ako Aotearoa would like to congratulate Dr Averil Coxhead, Emma McLaughlin, and Aleeshea Reid for their article on specialised word lists being awarded Runner-up for Article of the Year for 2019, International Journal of Vocational Education Training. The article extends this co-funded project The language in the trades led by Dr Jean Parkinson.

The article focuses on the technical vocabulary of Fabrication. The work is important because it identifies technical vocabulary of the trade and provides recommendations for teaching and learning this vocabulary. It included analysis of spoken texts in the form of tutor talk, and written texts, in the form of reading materials used in classes in Fabrication at WelTec.
