$50 + GST RegisterThis workshop introduces educators to the growing importance of cyber security within the education sector. You’ll explore the current cyber threat landscape, including common attacks like phishing, ransomware, malware and data breaches, which are becoming more prevalent in tertiary organisations.
Participants will explore why protecting learner data and institutional resources is critical, and how failing to do so can result in significant disruptions and legal ramifications. The session will also cover the basics of New Zealand’s Privacy Act 2020 and how it applies to the responsibilities of educators.
Workshop level
This is a Level 1 (introductory) workshop. No prior knowledge is required.

This workshop is designed for educators across all disciplines, including those involved in online teaching, managing digital platforms, or handling student data. It also caters to educators with a general interest in cyber security who want to upskill and enhance their understanding of digital threats and protection strategies.
