Topics covered
Registered participants examine three kōwae/modules of work related to the Māori concept of 'Manaakitanga' (Enhancing the mana of others/Hospitality)
Learning outcomes
Participants will:
- Gain a better understanding of and ability to apply Māori learning and teaching methodologies, especially those relating to 'Manaakitanga'.
- Receive an Ako Aotearoa digital badge on the successful completion of the minimum requirements and standards for the course.
Who is this course for?
Practitioners and educators with minimal knowledge of the concept of 'Manaakitanga' in a tertiary teaching/learning context. Some basic understanding of te reo Māori would be an advantage.
About the facilitators
Dr Mei Winitana, Kaiwhakahaere Māori/ Manager of Māori Cultural Capability at Ako Aotearoa, manages the series. Mei has extensive experience in tertiary education, in training and development and workshop facilitation.
Liza Kohunui is the contracted assessor for the series. Liza has extensive experience in the tertiary sector, and has delivered programmes for core Government and education sector organisations.

Participants can achieve a valuable Ako Aotearoa digital badge as evidence of reflective practice in relation to Māori Cultural Capability.
