Workshop Details

This full-day, in-house only workshop introduces tertiary educators to the design and evaluation of teaching strategies and practices that lead to enhanced outcomes for Māori learners.

The facilitator will guide participants through a process of discussion, reflection and translation to design an evidence-based summary of good tertiary education practice for their context, and establish a way to evaluate the implementation of kaupapa Māori approaches within their organisation.

Who is this in-house workshop for?

This workshop is applicable to any organisation across the sector that provides tertiary education to Māori learners, including: Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics, Wānanga, Industry Training Organisations, Private Training Establishments and Universities. Hei Toko is relevant to all staff with a key role to play in contributing to Māori learner success. This includes, but is not limited to: council and board members, chief executives and senior managers, heads of departments, teachers, tutors, mentors and student support staff.

Please note: As a prerequisite, participants should have some understanding of kaupapa Māori approaches, and have preferably completed some professional development, either the Ako Aotearoa professional development workshop, Kia eke ki te taumata: Success for Māori in tertiary education, or a similar programme offered within your organisation (if available).
