During this course you will explore the latest developments in neuro-diversity to understand how dyslexia fits within a wider spectrum of neuro-diverse conditions. Dyscalculia and Irlen’s are also discussed. You will also examine how people exhibit a combination of these conditions and how to work constructively with these learners.  

By the end of the course you will be able to create resources and other written material that is sensitive to the needs of dyslexic learners. You will also be able to understand and work with the positive features of dyslexia as well as the challenges to become a more inclusive educator. 

Course outline 

The webinar series provides for three hours of direct interaction covering:  

  • Webinar one: What dyslexia is 
  • Webinar two: What the institution should do 
  • Webinar three: What the individual should do 

There will also be an optional 1.5 hours of additional discussion time with the facilitator. It is expected that participants will also complete reflection about the learning and trial new practices with their learners.
