Workshop Details

This half-day workshop focuses on a range of strategies that organisations and teachers can utilise to support their learners on professional placements. The facilitator, Dr Marion Sanders from Bethlehem Tertiary Institute, will share techniques that focus on developing effective mentoring relationships between learners and supervisors.

Who should attend?

The session is ideally suited to educators involved in mentoring and/or supporting learners who undertake professional placements. Educators in the fields of early childhood education and counselling may find these workshops particularly relevant.

About the facilitator:

Marion is a team member for the Ako Aotearoa project Maximising learning dialogue in professional field-based experiences. She has a strong interest in this topic, given that both her Masters and doctoral research projects related to the mentoring relationship between student teachers and their associate teachers.

Marion works at Bethlehem Tertiary Institute, Tauranga, where one of her responsibilities is the oversight of practicum experiences. She enjoys her interactions with student teachers and is passionate about providing effective learning contexts whether in the university or the workplace.
