Course outline

This self-directed online course is designed to support the application of the Māori philosophy and value of wairuatanga (spirituality) to enhance both teaching practice and interpersonal working relationships.

Engage in the multi-media kōwae/ modules of work in your own time and place, with the support of an experienced Māori Cultural Coach.

This course can be completed in approximately 10 hours of self-directed online learning. The required completion time is 6 weeks from time of registration. Cultural coaching is included in this time. A reflective practice task is completed at the end of the course that will reward you with a digital badge.

Who is this course for?

  • Different concepts about wairuatanga in the Māori world, in tertiary education and in the workplace.
  • Examples of wairuatanga practices.
  • Refining one’s own thinking about wairuatanga – spirituality.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this course, you will have:

  • Gained some deeper insights about wairuatanga (spirituality) from a Māori Worldview
  • Participated in some multi-media activities relating to wairuatanga
  • Engaged in some thought provokers and refined your thinking related to wairuatanga in your workplace practice.
