This self-directed online course is designed to support the application of the Māori philosophy of whanaungatanga (relationships /relationship-building) to enhance both teaching practice and interpersonal working relationships.
Engage in the multi-media kōwae/ modules of work in your own time and place, with the support of an experienced Māori cultural coach.
This course can be completed in approximately 10 hours of self-directed online learning. The required completion time is 6 weeks from time of registration. Cultural coaching is included in this time. A reflective practice task is completed at the end of the course that will reward you with a digital badge.
Who is this course for?
Practitioners and educators with some knowledge of the concept of whanaungatanga in a tertiary teaching/learning context. A basic-medium understanding of te reo Māori would be an advantage.
Topics covered
This online workshop is an introduction into some deeper insights about whanaungatanga:
- The link between whānau and whanaungatanga
- Concepts about whānau-like relationships in work contexts
- Ways to promote whanaungatanga in tertiary and work contexts.
Learning outcomes
By the end of this workshop, you will have:
- Gained some deeper insights about whanaungatanga as a traditional Māori cultural philosophy and as a methodology relating to your practice and work context
- Participated in some multi-media activities relating to whanaungatanga
- Engaged in some thought provokers and refined your thinking related to whanaungatanga in your workplace practice.
