We will also offer four workshops, to provide you with practical skills, strategies, and knowledge to put UDL into practice.
About the workshops
Explore ways of putting Universal Design for Learning (UDL) into practice.
Workshop 1 | Introduction to Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
UDL is a framework that helps us to create flexible and inclusive learning opportunities to meet the diverse needs of all learners.
In this workshop we will introduce UDL and explore how it can help us proactively design for learner variability. We will also discuss strategies for getting started with UDL and provide you with pathways to further your learning.
Workshop 2 | UDL | Improving the inclusive design and teaching of learning activities
Creating engaging, useful, accessible learning activities for diverse groups of students requires innovative, inclusive design.
In this workshop we will introduce a design process that you can use in any context. We will also examine common barriers in the teaching or facilitation of activities and how to minimise these barriers.
Workshop 3 | UDL | Supporting learners to organise their learning
Students bring their cultures, identities, languages and experiences to learning. They also bring differences in how they learn.
In this workshop we will highlight how the UDL guidelines can help us recognise barriers to learning that may lead to discrimination and exclusion and consider ways to minimise them.
Workshop 4 | UDL | Supporting learner agency
Supporting learner agency is the goal of UDL and the focus of the updated UDL Guidelines 3.0.
We will discuss the focus on addressing bias and identifying practices that may inadvertently lead to exclusion. We will also highlight how the updated guidelines can help us design practice spaces for learning, where students have access to useful choices and usable supports.
Who are these workshops for?
These workshops will be of benefit to tertiary educators at all levels who are interested in learning more about Universal Design for Learning.
