Dr Claire Goode is a Principal Lecturer, Learning and Teaching Development at Otago Polytechnic

Describing herself as an educator: a teacher, facilitator, guide, and mentor, Claire’s 26 years experience comes together in her role as an educator of educators in Te Ama Ako, Otago Polytechnic’s Learning and Teaching Development team.

Claire builds capability by connecting both the mind and the heart of the learning environment so that ākonga find themselves and thrive in a system that can be challenging. Her holistic approach and bravery earnt her the name "Nanny McPhee" a true testament to her presence and the trust the College have in her.

A special educator who binds relationships as a vital mechanism of a learning environment that does not discriminate on capabilities or race, Claire is principled in learner differences by modifying design to enable engagement and confidence. One akonga describes her as “… generous in sharing her expertise and knowledge…, and spreading best practice in teaching across OP.”

A colleague attests, “Claire’s collaborative relationships have been invaluable in so many areas across the College and demonstrate her leadership credentials.”
