Ako Aotearoa launches Tuia Te Ako Hui Ipurangi

A series of five online sessions to replace our regular national Māori tertiary education hui. 

Starting on 24 November, and continuing into 2021, these five online sessions will feature presentations from leading Māori in tertiary teaching and learning. 

The overarching theme of Tuia Te Ako Hui Ipurangi is the commemoration of 180 years since the signing of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, the founding document of our nation. By connecting tertiary education and Te Tiriti o Waitangi we can learn from the past, share current good practices, and plan for a Tiriti-led future.  

We are delighted to welcome Dr Rhys Jones, Te Kupenga Hauora Māori, at The University of Auckland, as the presenter for Session 1 on 24 November 2020 at 12 noon 

Rhys will speak on Transforming health professional education to achieve a Tiriti-compliant health sectorHis session will be chaired by Professor Papaarangi ReidTumuaki and Head of Te Kupenga Hauora Māori.

Our Tuia Te Ako Hui Ipurangi series welcomes everyone. These online webinars will provide a great opportunity for Māori to come together (albeit virtually) to explore current topical issues and celebrate success and successful strategiesThey also offer excellent professional learning opportunities for non-Māori wanting to gain greater insight into key issues for Māori, from Māori perspectives, and that support cultural capability building.
