A one-year project, being undertaken by Vision College, to improve both teaching and learning on Transference/Countertransference at the School of Counselling within a faith-based, person-centred, Aotearoa New Zealand context.
Aims:
The main aims of the project are to:
- provide students with a thorough understanding of Transference phenomena and processes, which contributes to the development and maintenance of a secure therapeutic relationship, as well as therapist resilience
- take a person-centred approach to Transference/Countertransference teaching of students, and train faculty staff in this approach.
Methodology:
A mixed method approach will be used involving:
- a review the relevant academic literature
- a review of year one and two course materials
- questionnaire surveys for completion by students and staff
- interviews with staff.
