This webinar will be presented by Sharon Malaitai from Eastern Institute of Technology and will discuss supporting cultural capability development with staff and programme coordinators. 

Sharon will focus on Habit 3Vaka – Educate with phenomenal Pacific-centric methods. 

About the presenter:

Sharon Malaitai is the Pacific Student Support Coordinator at EIT. She brings a diverse background of skills and knowledge including architecture, trades and climate changes with emergency management. Sharon holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Business, and is also a graduate of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) with Women in  leadership and Disaster risk reduction Diplomas.

She currently serves as a Research Assistant for the Kato Toolkit under the direction of Aiono Manu Fa'aea, where she has been piloting the Kato Toolkit 10 habits of phenomenal educators’ resource to enhance cultural capability across EIT. This includes collaboration with executives and staff.

In addition to her academic and professional roles, Sharon is the Co-Director of PolyActive, a Pacific health service based in Hawkes Bay using exercise as a vehicle to enhance and uplift Pacific communities through Pacific lens. She was raised in Australia, Brisbane and raised her 6 beautiful children in New Zealand alongside her has sweet heart Viliamu Malaitai.

This community seeks to support Phenomenal Educators for Pacific learners. It was created to talanoa the Kato Toolkit which unpacks the Ten Habits of Phenomenal Educators.
