Course Outline
A series of workshops and coaching sessions designed to help you engage and retain your learners.
During the series you will work collaboratively with peers to:
- critically reflect on your teaching practice
- develop a plan to enhance your students’ learning experience
You will engage in a mini learning lab session with your peers to test out your new strategy and gain feedback.
You will be invited to join a reflective practice community where you can draw on the strengths of peers from across the tertiary teaching sector during the workshop series and beyond.
Note: Registrants need to have their own devices, zoom support will be provided.
Who is this course for?
This course will be of value to practitioners who want to plan engaging, student-centred learning sessions. It will be of interest to new staff in tertiary education and workplace training, and teachers who are finding engagement with their learners challenging in the current environment.
About the facilitator
Julia Bruce-Mayne gained her Adult Education degree and then her Master of Education (hons) while teaching hairdressing students for 13 years.
She received an Ako Aotearoa Tertiary Teaching Excellence Award for Sustained Excellence in 2008 and went on to help others extend their teaching practices through roles in Capability Development in the School of Education at Wintec.
She is currently an independent consultant who is passionate about developing teaching and learning through reflective, collaborative and holistic practice.
