Dr Jing Chi

Award for Sustained Excellence in Tertiary Teaching

Senior Lecturer, School of Economics and Finance, Massey University

"Dedicated to communicating a complex discipline across cultural and geographical boundaries".

A successful and dedicated teacher in a complex discipline, Jing is passionate about sharing her expertise and experience in finance. She seeks new teaching techniques and strategies as a result of reflection on students’ and colleagues’ feedback.  She epitomises quality teaching by making learning useful and meaningful. As a 300-level student comments: “I wish all lecturers were this organised and specific in their detail and content!! As much as this paper is more difficult than most I have studied, I have felt a greater amount of actual learning. It’s been great.”

Jing’s ability to communicate across boundaries is exemplified by her role in initiating and teaching on the Massey-Wuhan 2+2 programme where students complete a two-year English and business core program at Wuhan in China  before coming to Massey for two years to complete their BBS.

After Jing represented Massey on the Auckland Council Business Trade Mission to China in 2012, Auckland Mayor Len Brown commented,   'Jing, it was wonderful to receive your advice and support …. You did your university proud'.
