Project Details
A project due to be completed in 2019, being undertaken by University of Canterbury, is the fifth phase of a six-phase longitudinal project following a self-selected cohort of law students. The intended output of the full longitudinal project is the development of a law student profile to inform the teaching and learning of undergraduate law programmes at New Zealand universities.
Aims:
The main aims of the project are to:
- produce law graduates who have the skills and knowledge necessary for them to succeed in the work place in the careers that they wish to pursue
- produce law graduates who are work-ready for employers.
Methodology:
The project methodology will involve:
- an online survey of the project cohort from the Universities of Canterbury, Waikato, Auckland and Victoria
- data being collected from final year law students on their law school experiences, feelings of preparedness to join the work force and feelings of wellbeing
- data being collected from law graduates on their experiences in the workforce and their reflections on their time at law school.
