ADHD New Zealand, supported by the Tertiary Education Commission, has developed eLearning modules to help tertiary educators better support their learners with ADHD.
This workshop will help participants develop a deeper understanding of the specific challenges tertiary learners with ADHD face, and explore strategies that can support them to have a more positive learning experience.

This is a Level 1 (introductory) workshop. No prior knowledge is required.

This workshop is for anyone who works with learners with ADHD and would like to learn how to support them better.
Topics covered
- What is ADHD?
- What are the 10 myths about ADHD?
- Challenges faced by learners with ADHD.
- Accommodations and strategies to support learners with ADHD.
Learning outcomes
By the end of this workshop you will be able to:
- recognise and describe some of the challenges learners with ADHD face in the tertiary education environment, and why these challenges occur
- apply strategies in your teaching practice to mitigate some of these challenges.
Facilitator
Tracey Rountree
Tracey has been developing and facilitating professional workshops for agencies, organisations and schools for over a decade. She aims to enhance understanding of ADHD by providing up-to-date, evidence-based information and practical strategies to support individuals with ADHD and those working with them. Tracey brings a unique perspective through her lived experience as both a parent of children with ADHD and being diagnosed with ADHD as an adult.
Tracey is a Board Member of ADHD New Zealand, Co-Chair of their Lived Experience Advisory Panel, and coordinator of ADHD New Zealand’s Parent and Adult community groups on Facebook. She has recently completed her Bachelor of Science (Psychology) and currently works as an ADHD coach at Beehyve Health.
Free self-directed content
In addition to the live workshop, participants will have access to self-directed content available through the Ako Aotearoa Neurodiversity Educator Pathway on Pathways Awarua. This Pathway is currently under development. This complementary content will allow you to explore the topic in greater depth at your own pace and in your own time, reinforcing the practical skills and knowledge gained during the workshop.
