$50 + GST per workshop | $150 + GST for seriesDuring October 2025 the spotlight will be on Numeracy. We will share resources, research and information around this theme.
We will also offer four workshops, which will provide you with practical skills, strategies, and knowledge to support learners’ numeracy development.
About the workshops
Gain practical skills and strategies for teaching and embedding numeracy.
Workshop 1 | Numeracy | Introduction to dyscalculia
This workshop explores adult dyscalculia and the strategies educators can use to support learners. It links to a range of resources educators can use to support dyscalculic adults.
Workshop 2 | Numeracy | Identifying the numeracy in your course
Understanding the numeracy demands of a course enables the educator to develop targeted and effective instruction that can equip learners to master the numeracy they need.
This workshop provides a method any educator can use to identify the numeracy demands of their courses and how to prioritise these. This is a great skill and can be applied to any environment or context.
Workshop 3 | Numeracy | Fractions, decimals and percentages
Fractions, decimals and percentages are everywhere in adult life. Yet they cause extreme difficulties for many people, including educators who have to support learners with numeracy needs. However, the teaching of fractions, decimals and percentages has come a long way, with new research providing insights into highly effective teaching methods. Some of them are even fun!
This workshop introduces key concepts of fractions, decimals and percentages and strategies to develop understanding.
Workshop 4 | Numeracy | Talanoa Numeracy
Join us to explore how Talanoa Numeracy can help educators engage learners in meaningful discussion around numeracy, in a way that leads to enhanced engagement and learning. Talanoa Numeracy draws on the deep traditions of the Pacific Islands, specifically the concept of talanoa to support numeracy instruction.
Who are these workshops for?
These workshops are designed for vocational and LLN educators, but will also be of benefit to anyone working in education with an interest in supporting learners to succeed.
