Dyscalculia is a type of neurodiversity that impacts how people process magnitude, numbers, and eventually tasks that involve numeracy. This can make doing any type of numeracy deeply frustrating, unpleasant, and often demoralising. A new study finds that dyscalculia interferes with adults’ lives in many ways, including impacting self-esteem, family life, education, and the workplace. Yet amazing progress can be made if the right steps are taken!
This workshop explores adult dyscalculia and the strategies educators can use to support learners. It links to a range of resources educators can use to support dyscalculic adults and provides an introduction to the Dyscalculia course for those wishing to further develop their skills.
