$50 + GST RegisterThe famous boxer George Foreman had a saying, ‘Plan your work and work your plan’. This holds very true for numeracy instruction. Effective numeracy education includes clearly articulated goals, a sequenced learning pathway, and engaging and effective learning sessions.
This workshop presents a research-informed process for planning and delivering numeracy in a workplace context. It draws on the Learning Progressions for Adult Numeracy, assessment, and Workplace LLN needs analysis.
Workshop level
This is a Level 1 (introductory) workshop. No prior knowledge is required.
Who is this workshop for?
This workshop is for all Workplace LLN educators seeking activities to develop numeracy skills in the workplace. It is also appropriate for any educator delivering numeracy to adults.
Topics covered
- Identifying numeracy learning goals.
- Using Learning Progressions to identify learning pathways.
- Sequencing content based on the Learning Progressions.
- Effective instructional strategies and integrating principles of Learner Agency.
Learning outcomes
By the end of this workshop you will be able to:
- identify numeracy learning goals based on workplace contexts
- use the Learning Progressions to plan a learning sequence
- use effective instructional strategies in your practice.

Dr Damon Whitten – a specialist provider of professional development to the tertiary sector, with a background in adult literacy and numeracy.
