Why lecturers use exemplars and how they use them

Educators’ use of exemplars as a teaching-learning tool has been shown to play a key role in developing students’ ability to make informed evaluative judgments about their own work and the work of peers.

This report documents a survey of lecturers’ understandings about and use of exemplars and how they use them. Findings from the survey were used to produce a set of guidelines to support lecturers who wish to embark on or continue to develop their use of exemplars in teaching-learning programmes.
