This report introduces a set of four high-level principles for developing and maintaining good assessment systems for industry training organisations (ITOs) to ensure the right knowledge and skills are being assessed.
It also highlights the importance of good communication between ITOs and employers, and the need for ITOs to support employers so that employers and their workplaces can, in turn, support their apprentices.
While it is focussed on one ITO specifically—the BCITO— it will be of use for the assessment of on-job learning across all industry training organisations (ITOs).
The accompanying guide, Taking Charge of your Apprenticeship, was created to help learners manage their apprenticeship.
