About the course

This course includes two online workshops, and an optional, four-week, self-paced online module. The module takes a minimum of 1-2 hours of engagement per week.

Participants will have the opportunity to practise and reflect on the new learning and exchange experiences and ideas with each other and the facilitator.

Topics covered

Workplace training has been described as ‘the hardest job you ever had’. It’s also possibly the most rewarding and effective form of tutoring.

This course will equip workplace LLN educators with the skills to identify priority learning areas, use assessment results, and design targeted instruction. It covers both literacy and numeracy provision and includes a range of instructional approaches, activities and resources to support ongoing innovation.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this course you will be able to:

  • identify and prioritise workplace language, literacy and numeracy learning objectives
  • apply a range of strategies to develop literacy, language and numeracy skills
  • use a range of resources in a targeted and contextualised way to support and develop learners' skills.
